We are delighted to announce the winner of our tenth art competition – an annual initiative by CanFASD to showcase and celebrate the creativity of Canadians with FASD.
We received an incredible selection of submissions from across the country and it was very difficult to choose the winner.
The 2025 winner is 11-year-old, Korben. Korben will receive a prize, and this beautiful painting will be this year’s holiday card.
First place: Korben

Korben tells us about their passion for art: “I have struggled to find something I am passionate about and was really proud of. My parents and teachers have encouraged me to take art lessons because they said I had a talent. I was too nervous to do it until one of my school art projects was picked for the Catholic School Art Walk a couple years ago. Since then, I have created many paintings and drawings, and I was able to work with a sculpture on a life size horse this past summer. The picture I’m entering was one of my many paintings from art class. I love the different colours and the texture of the picture.”
Runners up
Kenna

Kenna W is a 15-year-old student, in Grade 10: “When I create art I feel like I am in my own world. I feel calm and happy. It makes my day feel better. I made this painting because I would like to go there and ride my horse. Having FASD is kind of like having your own superpower because you learn differently than everyone else. I love to paint, draw, skateboard, sing, and conquer my fears.”
Starr
Lexi

This is Lexi’s Jingle Dress. Lexi was diagnosed with FASD in 2023 at the age of 15. The red moccasins are for awareness, and the jingle dance is for spiritual healing: “Walking towards uncertainty, in the promise of the dance. Making connections to family, community, to culture. Taking her place – in the Dance.”
Thank you to every artist who entered this year’s CanFASD Art Competition. You can view all of our past winners here. Keep up the great work!
