As we wrap up 2024, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the progress and impact CanFASD has made over the past year. From hosting webinars, to publishing research to launching a new fund, we’ve worked hard to bring important information about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) to our community and beyond.

Let’s dive into the numbers that tell the story of CanFASD’s year!

2660 new online learners

CanFASD has nine online courses that explore FASD from different perspectives and at different knowledge levels. We had over 2,600 new learners this year! Our most popular course is our Level 1 Foundations in FASD, which will give you a basic understanding of FASD. We also have profession-specific Level 2 courses, and a Level 3 Multidisciplinary Training for Diagnosis of FASD.

12 webinars

For the past four years, CanFASD has been running a webinar series to share knowledge and research about FASD with more people. In 2024, we hosted 12 webinars on various topics related to FASD, including education, aggression and housing. Ten were part of our public webinar series and two were member-online webinars.

Our member-only webinars are a great opportunity for you to connect directly with researchers and experts from the network and get an in-depth understanding of some of our ongoing research. Interested? Become a member today

81 blog posts

We publish a new blog every Wednesday and we’ll share more throughout the week if we have lots of news and stories to talk about. We publish blogs on new FASD webinars, summaries of FASD research, news and upcoming events, and more. This year we put out 81 blogs, you can read them here

7 new issue papers

In 2024 we published 7 new issue papers! These resources are intended to provide an overview of some of the research and evidence relating to key policy issues. Our 2024 publications include:

1 new fund to support people with living experience to share their voices!

One of the new projects we launched this year was our Lived Experience Leadership Fund. This is a donation-based fund that covers the cost for people with lived and living experience to participate in research activities like conferences, events, and meetings. With the support of the Lived Experience Leadership Fund, we sent Chris from Manitoba to Seattle to participate in an international conference on FASD. In 2025, we’re excited to send more individuals to events like this, but we can’t do it without you! Please consider making a donation today and help make this a reality for others.

Too much research to count!

Our research team was very busy last year. Between our staff, Research Leads, and network partners, we published a lot of new research ranging from service delivery to diagnosis and everything in between. Here is a small selection of the papers published this year:

We have some exciting things planned for 2025, so be sure to stay tuned to our channels stay up to date!
