There’s just one month to go until FASD Month 2024! Are you ready to raise awareness?
As we approach September, it is crucial for us to come together and raise awareness of FASD and supporting healthy pregnancies.
Throughout the month, there will be various events, campaigns, and initiatives aimed at raising awareness of supporting people with FASD and supporting healthy pregnancies. Read on to find out some ways you can get involved.
Promote your event
Already planned an event? Be sure to let us know so we can advertise it on our FASD Awareness Events in Canada list. The CanFASD website received around 20, 000 views last September so this is the perfect way to ensure that as many people as possible find out about your event! You can let us know your event’s details by filling out this form.
Another way to promote your event is speaking to your local media! If you’re not sure how to do this then get some tips from our template media release (paquet média).
Spread the word that Everyone Plays a Part
The theme for this year’s FASD awareness month is Everyone Plays a Part. Let’s encourage the people in our lives to take actionable steps to support people with FASD. Reflect on what you can do personally to support this movement on a wider scale. Taking time to do training, spreading awareness in your community or discussing healthy pregnancies with your loved ones can make a real difference in someone’s life. When many of us take these steps, society will change for the better. How can you play a part? Check out our interactive webpage to find out.
Make sure that when you’re promoting this theme when arranging FASD Awareness Month campaigns and activities. Having a shared theme across Canada allows us to unite our voices and leverage our strengths. The theme helps connect organizations and advocates across the country to create one united voice for FASD, making it more impactful in urging our governments and leaders need to hear us and make changes to increase supports and services across Canada.
Canada Rocks Red
This year, several Canadian monuments and landmarks will be rocking red for FASD to raise awareness of this disability. We’ve asked key landmarks across the country to light up red on September 9th in honour of FASD Awareness Day. Grab your friends and family members to go see the lights. Be sure to take a picture and share it on social media with the hashtag #FASDMonth2024.
Social Media
Here are some ways you can get involved and spread awareness of FASD Awareness Month on social media:
