On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, CanFASD and the Canadian Alcohol Policy Evaluation Community of Practice (CAPE CoP) will cohost a timely national webinar focused on Bill S-234 and its potential to transform Canada’s approach to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). Register now!

Why Bill S-234 matters

Bill S-234 directs the federal government to create a coordinated, evidence-based strategy for addressing FASD. A National FASD Framework would set clear standards for prevention and diagnosis, improve training for professionals, increase public awareness about the risks of alcohol in pregnancy, support research and data sharing, and strengthen services for people with FASD and their caregivers. The Bill is currently at consideration in committee in the Senate.

About the webinar

This session will feature Senator Mohamed-Iqbal Ravalia speaking about the background and core elements of Bill S-234, why he is passionate about this issue, and the steps required for the Bill to become an Act. Panelists will discuss how this framework could facilitate changes in prevention, intervention, diagnosis and support, how similar bills have been moving through the Senate, and how people can take action to support Bill S-234.

This webinar will be presented in English, with simultaneous French interpretation available. Register today and join us in shaping this important national conversation on FASD!
