Self-regulation is the ability to regulate your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in response to your environment. Self-regulation is important in our daily lives, but individuals with FASD often experience challenges with self-regulation. In this webinar, Dr. Jacqueline Pei will explain the concept of self-regulation and how it relates to individuals with FASD. She will provide examples of strategies to improve self-regulation as well as describe the growing number of evidence-based interventions.

Dr. Pei will be presenting alongside Jennifer Noah and Tracy Mastrangelo, who will discuss self-regulation from the lens of a caregiver and a service provider, respectively. Tracy’s work focuses primarily on supporting children and youth with complex needs. Her presentation will briefly discuss the implementation of evidence- and research-based interventions that focus on relationships and collaborative teams to support hopeful, solution-focused success for students with complexities.

Jennifer has had a long history studying and working in the fields of mental health, addiction, and FASD, most recently as the Executive Director of the ᐱᕈᖃᑎᒌᑦ ᑲᑎᕝᕕᖏᑦ Piruqatigiit Resource Centre. She will be speaking about self-regulation from the point of view of a caregiver for (1) their own well-being and (2) to better understand their loved one’s behaviour, needs, and strengths.

This panel discussion will be hosted by Tammy Roberts, the Executive Director of the Foster Family Coalition of the N.W.T., and member of the CanFASD Family Advisory Committee. Spaces for this webinar are filling up quick. Register now

This presentation is part of CanFASD’s Webinar Series, one of our responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.
