Register now for our first webinar of 2022: Optimizing Employment Opportunities and Outcomes for People with FASD!
Meaningful and fulfilling employment can help people develop a positive identify, self-esteem, and self-worth. For people with FASD, consistent employment can also be a protective factor against some secondary outcomes associated with FASD. It can reduce the risk of poverty and dependency.
People with FASD have many strengths, skills, and abilities to bring to their workplace. However, there are a number of challenges and barriers to people with FASD entering and succeeding in the workforce. Employers and co-workers need a better understanding of the potential challenges that people with FASD experience in the workforce to make sure that the expectations they set are achievable.
In this webinar, we bring together a researcher, a person with FASD, and an FASD service provider to talk about how we can optimize employment opportunities and outcomes to encourage success for those with FASD in the workplace. Our amazing speakers include Dr. Aamena Kapasi, a research fellow with CanFASD; Lisa Murphy, the Executive Director of the Lakeland Centre for FASD; and Blair Charters, a FASD advocate successfully working in Alberta for the last 22 years.
We recommend reading the following resources before attending this webinar, especially if you’re unfamiliar with FASD:

This webinar will last approximately 2 hours. There will be opportunities for questions after the panelists have presented. The webinar will be recorded and published to the CanFASD YouTube channel after the event.
