Join the CanFASD Board of Directors: Make a National Impact

The Canada Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Research Network (CanFASD) is seeking passionate, forward-thinking individuals to join our Board of Directors. As the only national network focused on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) research and policy, we play a critical role in shaping the future for individuals and families affected by FASD across Canada.

We are currently recruiting new Board members who are committed to promoting excellence in research and knowledge translation related to FASD. To strengthen our governance and strategic capacity, we are particularly interested in candidates who bring diverse lived experiences and professional backgrounds.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion: We strongly encourage applications from individuals who identify as members of underrepresented communities, including (but not limited to) Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+, and persons with disabilities.
  • Bilingualism: Proficiency in French is considered a strong asset.
  • Professional expertisein one or more of the following areas:
    • Financial and or political acumen
    • Fundraising and donor development
    • Public relations, communications, or media engagement

Time Commitment: Board meetings are held quarterly (virtually or in person). Additional participation in committees and events is welcomed.

Please send your resume and a brief letter of interest outlining your background, skills, and commitment to CanFASD’s mission to info@CanFASD.ca by December 31, 2025.

Once we receive your application it will be:

  • Reviewed by the Nominations Committee of the Board of Directors (The Committee)
  • The Committee will contact you, review your application, answer your questions and discuss how you might fit with the Board
  • The Committee will contact your reference(s)
  • The Committee will make a recommendation to the Board of Directors
  • If the Board of Directors agrees, your name will be recommended to the Annual General Meeting (AGM)
  • You will provide a short written biography to be used at the AGM
  • We will contact you to let you know about results of the election
  • Should you be elected the Committee will orient you to the Board of Directors
