Individual Travel Awards

Limited travel awards are available to support individuals with FASD, living experience with FASD, and caregivers attending the Canada FASD Conference. Awards will be given out on a first come, first served basis. The deadline to apply is June 30, 2025.

These awards are funded by generous support from our conference partner, the Canada Northwest FASD Partnership, and other conference sponsors.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for an individual travel award, you must:

  • Have FASD, living experience with FASD, or care for someone with FASD (i.e. in-home or in-body experience with FASD);
  • Be a Canadian citizen;
  • Have purchased your tickets for the Canada FASD Conference;
  • Not be attending the conference on behalf of an organization; and
  • Apply before June 30, 2025.

Depending on interest, applications received after the deadline may still be considered. Successful applicants will be notified via email and can pick up their award at the event in October.

There are limited awards available on a first come first serve basis. Amounts allocated are dependent on several factors, including your location and when you apply.

Additional Funding

Lived Experience Leadership Fund (LELF)

This is a donation-based fund from CanFASD to support people with lived and living experience to participate in research activities. Individuals with FASD; parents and caregivers of someone with FASD; and/or someone who identifies as having drank during their pregnancy are eligible to apply for financial support through this fund. Funds are provided to successful applicants to off-set the costs that are required to participate in the approved research activity. Research activities include participation in meetings and/or presenting at or attending conferences related to FASD research. Learn more and apply.

Jordan’s Principle

Jordan’s Principle is intended to make sure that First Nations children have substantively equal access to government services, taking into account their distinct circumstances, experiences, and needs as First Nations children.
