Individual Travel Awards

Limited travel awards are available to support individuals with FASD, living experience with FASD, and caregivers attending the Canada FASD Conference. Awards will be given out on a first come, first served basis. The deadline to apply is June 30, 2025.

These awards are funded by generous support from our conference partner, the Canada Northwest FASD Partnership, and other conference sponsors.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for an individual travel award, you must:

  • Have FASD, living experience with FASD, or care for someone with FASD (i.e. in-home or in-body experience with FASD);
  • Be a Canadian citizen;
  • Have purchased your tickets for the Canada FASD Conference;
  • Not be attending the conference on behalf of an organization; and
  • Apply before June 30, 2025.

Depending on interest, applications received after the deadline may still be considered. Successful applicants will be notified via email and can pick up their award at the event in October.

Student Travel Awards

Students presenting at the Canada FASD Conference may be eligible for $1000 worth of funding for registration, travel, and/or accommodation. The deadline to apply is August 1, 2025

Eligibility Criteria

These awards are available for a select number of students that are sharing an oral presentation, workshop, or a poster at the 2025 Canada FASD Conference. There are limited funds available. Awards will be given on a first-come, first-served basis, but decisions will be made with consideration for representation across Canada, and between research areas.

To be eligible for this subsidy, applicants must:   

  • Be registered to attend the Canada FASD Conference in October 2025;
  • Be a Canadian resident; 
  • Be attending a post-secondary institution or employed as a post-doctoral fellow; and  
  • Have an abstract accepted for the Canada FASD Conference.

To apply please fill out the form below. Contact conference@canfasd.ca if you need support with your application. You will be notified of decisions by email before the first week of September. You must be registered to attend the Canada FASD Conference in order to be eligible.

Additional Funding

Lived Experience Leadership Fund (LELF)

This is a donation-based fund from CanFASD to support people with lived and living experience to participate in research activities. Individuals with FASD; parents and caregivers of someone with FASD; and/or someone who identifies as having drank during their pregnancy are eligible to apply for financial support through this fund. Funds are provided to successful applicants to off-set the costs that are required to participate in the approved research activity. Research activities include participation in meetings and/or presenting at or attending conferences related to FASD research. Learn more and apply.

Jordan’s Principle

Jordan’s Principle is intended to make sure that First Nations children have substantively equal access to government services, taking into account their distinct circumstances, experiences, and needs as First Nations children.
