There’s just one month to go until FASD Month 2025! Are you ready to raise awareness?
As we approach September, it is crucial for us to come together and raise awareness of FASD and supporting healthy pregnancies.
Throughout the month, there will be events, campaigns, and initiatives aimed at raising awareness of supporting people with FASD and supporting healthy pregnancies. Read on to find out some ways you can get involved.
Everyone Plays a Part: Take Action!
The theme for this year’s FASD awareness month is Everyone Plays a Part: Take Action!. Let’s encourage the people in our lives to take actionable steps to support people with FASD. Taking time to do training, spreading awareness in your community, or discussing healthy pregnancies with your loved ones can make a real difference in someone’s life. When many of us take these steps, society will change for the better. How can you play a part? Check out our interactive webpage to find out.
Use this theme for your FASD Awareness Month campaigns and activities. Having a shared theme across Canada allows us to unite our voices and leverage our strengths. The theme helps connect organizations and advocates across the country to create one united voice for FASD, making it more impactful in urging our governments and leaders need to hear us and make changes to increase supports and services across Canada.
Social media made easy
You don’t need to be a social media expert to get involved online. We’ve created a toolkit with everything you need:
- Ready-to-use graphics in English and French
- Editable Canva templates so you can customize the visuals with your logo
- Sample captions and messages to make posting simple
Promote your event
Already planned an event? Be sure to let us know so we can promote it on our FASD Awareness Events in Canada list. The CanFASD website received around 23, 000 views last September so this is the perfect way to ensure that as many people as possible find out about your event! Fill out this form so have all the details.
Another way to promote your event is speaking to your local media! If you’re not sure how to do this then get some tips from our template media release (paquet média).
Canada Rocks Red
This year, Canadian monuments and landmarks will be rocking red for FASD to raise awareness of this disability. We’ve asked key landmarks across the country to light up red on September 9th in honour of FASD Awareness Day. Grab your friends and family members to go see the lights. Be sure to take a picture and share it on social media with the hashtag #FASDMonth.
Make it official!
Want to bring more visibility to FASD Awareness Month or Day in your community? A proclamation is a powerful way to do it. Proclamations are formal public statements that show support for a cause. While not legally binding, they can help raise awareness, reduce stigma, and spark important conversations.
We’ve created two easy-to-use templates to help you get started:
- Government Template – Ideal to send to mayors, premiers, and other elected officials.
- Non-Profit Template – Perfect for organizations, advocacy groups, and community networks.
Education is key to making change
Knowledge is the foundation of change. The more we learn about FASD, the more power we have to push for better support, stronger services, and more informed communities.
In 2025, one of the most meaningful ways you can take action is by registering for the Canada FASD Conference. This national event explores vital topics like the relationship between FASD and the criminal legal system, Indigenous approaches rooted in truth and reconciliation, and the current state of service provision. You’ll also engage with emerging research on health and wellbeing, prevention and women’s health, and effective supports across the lifespan.
Join the conversation, connect with others, and return to your community empowered with new ideas and insights.
Let’s raise our voices together
Thank you for joining us in raising awareness for FASD. Together, we are building a more supportive and inclusive future for individuals with FASD.
Let’s make FASD Awareness Month 2025 a success!
