September is coming up quickly! FASD Awareness Day is just around the corner. We are excited to announce that our FASD Awareness Month toolkit is now available for download!
At CanFASD we’re working on developing a consistent message for FASD awareness and FASD prevention across Canada. We want to make sure this message is non-stigmatizing and strengths-based and aligns with the best practices outlined in research.
Uniting our Strengths: Finding Solutions Together
The theme for this FASD Awareness Month is Uniting our Strengths: Finding Solutions Together. We have, and continue to see, real progress and change for FASD and FASD prevention in Canada. Many organizations and advocates have created innovative solutions to how they create and deliver services and supports. This outside-the-box thinking is one of our community’s biggest strengths.
During FASD Month, let’s talk about these innovations and services. Show how you are making a difference. When we share effective solutions, it shows problems are solvable. Highlighting the innovative and strengths-based solutions is one way we can support and raise awareness around FASD and FASD prevention.
Canada Rocks Red for FASD
To celebrate FASD Awareness Day, famous landmarks across the country will light up red on September 9th. So far, 27 monuments are on board, including places like BC Place, Montréal Tower, and the CN Tower! You can find a full list of monuments and details here. The list will continue to be updated as we get closer to September.
Grab your friends and family members to go see the lights. Be sure to take a picture and share it on social media with the hashtag #FASDMonth2023 & #ResShoesRock.
