FASD month is fast approaching and we want to make sure you are ready to celebrate and raise awareness! Although FASD is one of the leading developmental disabilities in Canada, many Canadians still don’t know much about this disorder and the impact it can have. This is where we need your help!
Getting involved in FASD Awareness Month and International FASD Awareness Day is a great way to help raise awareness of FASD. With communities across Canada running events throughout the month of September, we encourage everyone to reach out in their community and see how you can get involved.
Whether you are planning to participate in a community event or decide to raise your own awareness, we encourage you to share whatever you may be doing throughout FASD Month! When sharing on social media, be sure to use the following hashtags: #FASD, #FASDMonth, #FASDDay, and of course, don’t forget to tag CanFASD on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn to show us how you are celebrating! We look forward to seeing all of your events and activities this year!
Want to get involved but don’t know what to share? Check out the FASD Month resources and graphics available on our website at www.fasdmonth.ca and www.moisdutsaf.ca.
This year, FASD Month also happens to coincide with the 44th Federal Election in Canada. With the pandemic disproportionately impacting people with disabilities, the increased rates of mental health challenges and substance use, and concerns about increased prevalence of FASD, it’s more important than ever to bring FASD to the attention of candidates this election.
We need your help to get FASD on the radar. Connect with your local candidates throughout FASD month and talk to them about FASD. Check out our website to learn more about where to reach your candidates and what to say.
