The United Nations calls for “inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning for all”. In Canada, we have a strong education system that offers free elementary and high school learning opportunities to all Canadians. However, the structure of our education system does not necessarily take into account the varying needs of all learners across our nation, particularly those with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
We’re celebrating the International Day of Education by sharing stories, information, and resources every day this week to give you a better understanding of FASD and our education system.
We also want to hear from you! Have you encountered an educator who has gone above and beyond to help an individual with FASD succeed in our education system? If so, send us an email at info@canfasd.ca and they could win a $25 gift card to Chapters-Indigo!
We need to know:
- The name of the teacher;
- The school district they work in;
- Their email address; and
- A brief description (200 words) of how they’ve gone above and beyond to support a student with FASD succeed in school.
The draw for the gift card will be held on Friday January 24, 2020 and the submission deadline is 11:59 PM EST Thursday January 23, 2020.
Please note that your submissions may be used and shared online as part of CanFASD resources and content. If this is the case your submissions may be edited for length and clarity, and to protect the confidentiality of those involved. Your information will be kept anonymous.
Have a Happy International Day of Education!
